Ukuleles to Inspire Musicians
Help me give my students something to get excited about and a better music education through ukuleles!
My Students
My students have come to this school because they are seeking a better education. They are a bright, funny, caring, very diverse group of students.
Every day students ask me, "Miss McHam, when are we going to get to play instruments?" Yet we barely have any instruments to use in our classroom.
They love making music. They crave the ability to do more than what we are able to do now with what little we have. They deserve to have instruments to learn on.
My Project
My students really, REALLY want to learn how to perform using instruments! Unfortunately, our school does not have much in the way of instruments. Right now students are learning theory but are not getting to put it to use as much as they could if they actually could use instruments. It's like learning about basketball but not being allowed to get out on the court and actually play it.
Getting enough ukuleles will allow my kids to experience being a musician, to have fun practicing melody, harmony, notes and rhythms, and to get to be their own rock star!
