Take a Look at Parma Heights - Small Family Setting

After enjoying success in Parma with its elementary, middle and high schools, Parma Community Constellation Schools decided to open a new elementary school in Parma Heights.  The charter school is based on the model set by other Constellation schools - excellent academics and activities in a small, family setting.  Plans are in the works to open a preschool.

The new school, inside the historic former Pearl Road school building, will accommodate about 100 students in kindergarten through third grade.  The enrollment operates on a first-come, first -serve basis and is full for this year with a waiting list.

"We think our charter school system is pretty special.  Families who go here say we're like one big family," says Linda Geyer, overall principal for Parma Community Constellation Schools.  For example, everyone from the principal to the cafeteria staff and building cleaners know every child and his or her family.  "It's very personalized and intimate," Geyer says.  "And our small class sizes help as well with the learning."  She says teachers are able to make individualized plans for each student that grow and change as they do.

This year, Constellation Schools also will offer a before and after school program called Springboard.  Parma Community Constellation Schools, 6125 Pearl Road, 440-885-3708, constellationschools.com
